The 3 Principles Teach Us

8/27/2018

As life would have it, it does seem as if circumstances and the past are actually the source of my initial feeling at any given moment.

The sudden appearance of a particular person occurring simultaneously with a sudden change in emotion could lead me to conclude that there is a direct connection - direct cause and effect.

"What you did made me feel good!", I might exclaim. "His presence is ruining my enjoyment of this party", I might mutter to a friend. Or I might whisper to myself, "I will rise above my negative circumstances and remain positive."

One of the greatest things to realize is, that despite appearances, there really is no cause and effect between circumstances and feeling.

The 3 Principles metaphor has been trying to show us that, in truth, the world has no power of it's own to make one think and feel in particular way. The circumstances ARE real and our feelings ARE real, but the idea that feelings derive from circumstances is NOT real.

The most defiant child has no actual power to make one feel overwhelm. How one happens to think about a defiant child, does. The most painful injury has no actual power to make one feel despair. How one happens to think about pain, does. The most strenuous work has no power to make one feel stressed. How one happens to think about strenuous work, does.

The 3 Pricniples logic shows us all feeling derives from Thought. This is a constant truth, without exception. This rules out the idea - it rules out the possibility, that my particular thinking/feeling in this moment, is somehow originating from my physical surroundings, or your behavior, or my bank account, or the weather and on and on and on.

Certainly, there can be a sudden appearance of a particular person occurring simultaneously with a sudden change in emotion, but only due to Thought in the moment.

Here at Twerski Wellness, we are all learning, together, getting to see more and more often, areas of our lives where we had been innocently attributing the origination of our moods, attitudes, emotions, perspectives and feelings to circumstances and had been unaware of it's true source.

For those of you who have been getting a glimpse, please share with us, share with each other, how this has impacted your life, what implications have you have found and what it has taught you.

Different Thoughts on Your Mind

Surprise! It happened again. As we continually look at, examine and investigate the truth, more and more of what we previously considered important to do, say or focus on suddenly begins to be revealed as irrelevant. It can be unsettling to hear statements regarding the Innate Health of all human beings as a fact. It might be unsettling to consider that people do not actually break. But as the truth about reality and how it manifests for each us is revealed, you too will make these statements.

This is not to say that people don't suffer or misbehave. Rather it means, that instead of trying to see people positively, the truth shows us that it is impossible to see ourselves or others as being beyond resilience. I'm fond of asking people "Do you know how happy or vibrant you can be?" I don't mean to consider that they should just choose happiness or be happier. I'm asking a question of fact - how much happiness is potentially available for a person even if not one single thing changes in your life?

The Logic of the Three Principles shows us definitively, without question, just how much. And because we can see that the potential for infinite happiness is possible even without a single thing changing in your life, the logic reveals another powerful surprise about where to NOT look for happiness.

I hope that takes a bunch of things off your mind.

Divine Cause, Divine Effect

If there was one thing, one huge benefit, that emerges in a moment of realizing the truth of the 3 Principles, in my estimation, it would be this:

Knowing, really knowing, that no matter how real your feeling feels, and no matter how real your circumstances are, these two, your real feelings and your real circumstances, aren't, never were and never will be the cause of each-other.

Picture
They stem not from each-other.

The former does not create the latter or vice versa.

I don't recommend taking my word for it. That would be a waste of time.

First you have to realize, understand for yourself, this entire universe is,

One Divine Thought.

Seal of Life

As we usher in the new Jewish year, I find myself reflective. One concept seems to jump out at me the most - the human capacity to experience is infinite in potential. We've seen, with an ever growing clarity, the single catalyst behind personal experience. It is G-d himself. G-d is infinite. His metaphorical creative reach is unlimited. This is rarely totally clear to me. Most of time I find myself whining to myself that I cannot see the divine. But these moments of blindness too, must be divine - of the same intelligent creator.

So what we have learned most of all, is not a way to find a G-dly feeling, but that all feeling is G-dly. The clarity, the confusion, the gratitude, the temptation, the anger, the contentment. As this logic is peeling away our grip from the impossible endeavor of controlling our personal world, what remains is the inherently uninhibited ability to make moral choices in the direction of what we know to be just and true.

This is our free will. Not to create, but to guide our fate.

This message is deep and may not resonate at all. This makes little difference. What matters is your commitment to truth, using your free will to pursue it, engaging whichever medium you fancy, that is key.

It is only G-d that can give you life.

May you and your family be sealed into the book of Life.

Looking In All The Wrong Places

Here's a widely known metaphor.

Suppose you are in a dark alley and accidentally drop your keys. You immediately begin searching for your keys, albeit two blocks away where a bright lamppost illuminates the street. The keys are clearly never going to be found this way, for you are searching in a false dimension - a possibility that does not exist. It is so utterly false, that we can conclusively say that no amount of effort, focus or diligence in combing the area under the lamppost will hasten the recovery of your keys. Once you realize your mistake, you might feel a bit sheepish for a moment, save face by pretending to admire the cracks in the sidewalk and then head out to purchase a flashlight with which to search the dark alley.
Picture
False dimensions might not actually exist, but until the "falseness" is realized, one can go right along relying on it or believing in it as if it did exist - leading to some very questionable behavior. Examples might be pushing outward with all your might on a door that opens inwards, worrying incessantly about sailing off the edge of the flat earth (it's round last time we checked), or investing your life savings in a firm with an impeccable reputation known as Madoff Investment Securities. Hindsight is always 20-20.

Here's a dimension that we have all come to believe in but actually does not exist. The idea, that emotions and experiences are driven or created by circumstances or the past -  is a false dimension! A causal connection between environment and feeling doesn't exist, and never has. A causal connection between brain chemistry and feeling doesn't exist and never has. A causal connection between genetics and feeling doesn't exist and never has. A causal connection between a past trauma and a feeling right now doesn't exist and never has.

But as long as someone honestly believes the premise that there exists a dimension where circumstances have some sort of creative power to create their experience - well, logically, they will expend a great deal of energy in modifying their environment in order to achieve a desired feeling. Worse yet, when it occurs to someone that their so called “required scenario for happiness" is unattainable, many people resign themselves to a life of mediocrity, or dare I say, give up on life altogether.

Each time anyone is reawakened to the single creative source of all of life, the generative power behind all temporary feeling in any present moment, they are relieved. Relieved from pursuing the so called "required scenario for happiness", relieved from all the ruminating and planning involved in that false endeavor, and relieved from needing to resign to a lifetime of misery - relieved from wasting valuable effort searching for your keys under the lamppost just because that’s the only area visible to you.

For in truth, finding your keys or discovering happiness are temporarily bestowed via Thought. Any feeling can show up, anytime, anywhere, for anyone regardless of any kind of past or present circumstance. The Power of Thought has that kind of freedom! And we have the permission to serve the universe from any state-of-mind, to securely feel the entire spectrum of human emotion without fear of being defined by its  fleeting, momentary presence.

It may be tempting to overlook the creative Power of Thought, to find the cause of our feeling in the visible, graspable world. But in doing so, we innocently step into a dimension that while well-lit, doesn't actually exist.

Relief out of Insightful Logic

At times, we are blessed with an experience of understanding. Other times we are blessed with the experience of misunderstanding. Both experiences derive and come alive from the same unifying source - from G-d, via Thought.

Sometimes we have clarity. Sometimes not. Sometimes we feel safe. Sometimes not. Sometimes we know what to do in life. Sometimes not. Sometimes we can find our checkbook, sometimes not.

The doorway to a life of freedom, is realizing, that all experience is brought to you by G-d through Thought. All knowledge is brought to you by G-d through Thought. Realizing this is experiencing the freedom from the false belief that this feeling cannot change until the past changes or circumstances change.

Even an understanding of this never-ending truth is brought to you by G-d through Thought. Understanding that the surroundings, circumstances or the body have no power to create experience is a gift. An awakening to the fact of Thought, is bestowed by G-d. Often, for reasons only fully known to Him, an awareness of this Truth is not available to us. We go blind to the fact of the inseparable Thought-Feeling connection.

So here we are, seeing the logic and Truth of the singular power of G-d to create our stage of life, including our reality, knowledge and emotion - simultaneously realizing and seeing the Truth, that this recognition came from G-d and can be taken by G-d.

As Keith Blevens and Valda Monroe put it:

In the moments that we are gifted with an understanding of how our reality is created:

"We begin to catch sight of how deceptive the ‘Outside-In’ illusion really is. We see that we are sometimes fooled by it and sometimes not. Everyone gets fooled by this deception. In this way, we are all in the same boat. It is illogical to judge and criticize others because they lose sight of the ‘Inside-Out,’ just like we do. In light of this understanding, compassion and humility emerge naturally without effort. We are capable of being honest about ourselves. We stop judging and we start listening and communicating."

In the moments we fall into misunderstanding:

"We are fooled by the deception of the ‘Outside- In’ and innocently forget to factor in ‘Thought in the moment’ as the source of feeling. It honestly seems as if what we are thinking about has the power to dictate how we are feeling. It does not. We do not purposefully lose sight of the ‘Inside-Out Paradigm’. This has been the greatest deception since the beginning of time. The moment we lose sight of the ‘Inside-Out’ we lose the chance to be honest with ourselves."

So, welcome aboard. How Refreshing! Sometimes we see it, sometimes we don't - and there's no shame in that.

The Reality About Reality

As the Truth surrounding the human experience becomes clearer and clearer to me, I find that these blog messages are becoming more and more difficult to write within the rules I created at the outset.

I wanted to write a message that was, first and foremost, true. I wanted the message to be relevant and connect with you on a simple, practical level.
Picture
I wanted the message to be short, sweet and comprehensible. Somewhere down the list was the need for correct spelling and proper punctuation. Most of all, I want you to have insight!

The nature of the Principles is that they are always true. It's predictable! All of us will be experiencing our personal reality, at any given moment through a G-d energy, shaped via the Power of Thought into the form we now see and feel. Simultaneously, across this great planet, this beautiful system is creating 7.3 billion separate realities. Each reality comes into being for each individual, via this one, universal system - G-d energy, shaped via the Power of Thought into the separate Conscious reality we each now experience. There exists no other factors or inputs from anywhere else. Neither war nor famine, peace or prosperity can affect or shape our realities for these specifics are all post-Thought - already in the world of form. Reality does not have the power to create another reality.

"There's nothing outside that can help you, there's nothing outside that can hurt you, because there is no outside." - Syd Banks

Of course there is a real world with real consequences, but there is nothing outside of Mind, Consciousness and Thought which can effect your current Conscious reality.

So here I am, violating the rule of keeping things simple. But ultimately, my words, my articulation, although appropriate, do not have the power. It does not have the power to shift your reality and cause you to realize, learn and evolve.

The principles have already revealed that you or me or anyone can only have a new reality, a reality which includes the realization of this singular system, via Thought, via insight, via the touch of G-d.

Insight IS Change

Imagine, you are a ship captain in the mid 15th century. Imagine you are just like the thousands of other captains, sailors and the general public who truly believe the world is flat. This is your reality. Sailing off the edge of the earth is a real concern to you, not just a silly myth. Enter into the mind of this captain as if you were him.
Picture
Imagine what it would feel like, to have dawn on you the realization that the world is round. Notice in that moment of realization, how the concern of sailing off the edge simply melts away and is suddenly exposed for the ridiculous notion it really is. What a fantastic experience of insight! The world was always round, but a single moment of waking up to the truth of it spherical nature had immediate impact - not via effort, but due to the implication of moving from knowing the world is flat to suddenly knowing it is round.

This is the gift of insight. When insight arrives - or in other words, when our reality changes, built into it's very nature is immediate and effortless impact.

What a fantastic moment it is to realize and wake up to the inseparable nature of Feeling and Thought. Each time we are gifted with a reawakening to this simple and profound truth - built into it, is deep and immediate impact. It is accompanied by a beautiful feeling of effortless relief and humility. Effortless relief from the idea that our personal evolution is beholden to the circumstances of our life and humility to know that unlike the roundness of the earth, I, just like everyone else, continue to be forget the simple truth of the Thought-Feeling connection.

To my knowledge, there is nobody in recent history who has been so utterly awakened to the Thought-Feeling connection that they never forgot it thereafter. This knowledge is given and it is taken away - as G-d sees fit. The deeper point here today is three fold:

1. You cannot wake yourself up to an insightful knowing that reality is Thought.

2. When you are you are woken up, this knowing MUST change your reality in an effortless and powerful way. Anything less is just not the real thing.

3. Just because we have a wakeful, meaningful, impactful experience of this Truth at 12:38 is no guarantee that we wont need to wake up all over again at 2:15. We are all made to forget - and often!

No Exceptions: An Absolute Truth & The Baal Shem Tov

3/27/2017

The title of this post, "No Exceptions: An Absolute Truth", is by no means an exaggeration. There is a indivisible connection shared between Thought and feeling. They are one and the same.

Without Thought, there is no good feeling. Without Thought, there is no bad feeling. Without Thought, there is no emotion. Without Thought, there is no sensation. Without Thought, there is no knowledge or ideas. Without Thought, there is no state of mind. Without Thought, there is no attitude. Without thought there is no anger. Without Thought, there is no integrity. Without Thought, there is no separation. Without Thought, there is no compassion.
Picture
The Holy Rabbi Yisroel Baal Shem Tov of Blessed Memory (circa 1700 - 1760)
If there was some way, to be alive and have no Thought at all, there would be no experience at all. This connection is absolute, utter and complete. There is no exception. Personal reality will always and completely mirror Thought in the moment. If you felt anything, you must have thunk it!

I am not saying you should think good thoughts. I am also not saying you shouldn't think bad thoughts. I am saying there is a devastating truth about what it is you are actually experiencing. You and I, are experiencing Thought in the moment, always and forever. This is devastating to the illusory limitation which emerges in any instance where experience has innocently and mistakenly been attributed to some power or source other than Thought.

Maybe, just maybe, this was the true intention of the great Reb Yisroel, Ba'al Shem Tov (1700-1760), founder of Chassidic Revolution, in his oft quoted principle: "Asher Mach'shavto, Sham Hu" - "As are his Thoughts, there he will be".

There is no doing attached to this teaching. This is not a suggestion about how you should feel.

No, not at all.

This is simply an absolute truth, without exception.

Fake News: Finding a Reliable Source

1/23/2017

Who can you trust anymore? The older folks will reminisce about "back in the day" when major news networks and newspaper journalists were objective truth seekers (I wonder if this was ever really the case), minimizing their bias as much as they could muster, triple checking their information without Wikipedia, and guided by an honest commitment to reporting the facts - not an ideology. As it dawns more and more on the news reliant public that such reporting is not quite the standard anymore - every
Picture
story has a slant, every report built on an agenda, it leads us to the logical conclusion to be more discerning and analytical about what we read and view in the mainstream media and elsewhere. This is not a bad thing really. Quite the contrary, discovering that a once trusted source is not as reliable, actually helps us and guides us to have a different relationship with the news we read.

A similar phenomenon is unfolding for those of us who are learning about the 3 Principles Paradigm. We had become accustomed to attributing our emotions, good or bad, as being reliable reporters about the world around us. We used to righteously exclaim "Anybody in my situation would feel this way!" or "My trauma from the past has ruined my life" or "I know already this event will be uncomfortable, but I'll muster through it."

It's beginning to dawn on us more and more, that the world around us, our past experiences or our genetics or even ourselves do not have the power to create or determine how we specifically emote in each moment. Instead of relying on our emotions as trusted reporters about who we are, the condition of the world or as predictors about what we will soon feel, we are beginning to see that our emotions are really reliable for only one thing - they are perfectly indicating the kind of thinking we are putting into the Power of Thought at this very moment in time.

This is not to say we are advocating that you think better thoughts or ignore your thinking (only Torah can guide us with that). Instead, we are just revealing that what was once trusted as a reliable reporter about the world - isn't! Our emotions are only exactly reporting what is momentarily being generated via an independent, emotion-creating source - and nothing more.

How you choose to act in life, whether to flee from danger, proceed with a divorce, complete a business deal, or whatever you do, will always be engaged in more wisely, when it is clear to you, your emotions are coming from somewhere other than this world.
